Greiz Park

Greiz Parklocation: bank of the Elster beneath the castle


The park which was laid out in 1650, is of high cultural and artistic importance. With an area of 60 ha, containing lots of old trees and being home to many bird species, it offers relaxation and recreation to citizens as well as visitors of Greiz.

Waldhaus Recreation Area and Pen

location: in the natural preserve "Greiz - Werdauer Wald"

 

 

 

 

The recreation area offers various paths to walkers and hikers. In the pen, 20 different animal species can be seen on an area of about 3 ha. The Mausoleum, which was once the tomb of the Reuss family, had been restored until 1997 and is now open to visitors.

Rabensleite Pen

location: at the outskirts of Zeulenroda

 

 

 

 

The "Rabensleite" recreation area with its pen is among the region’s most popular excursions places. The "Rabensleite" history dates back to the 15th century.

Ronneburg Municipal Park

The area on 4 ha is an urban recreation oasis for young and old. Especially younger people can find a great playground with possibilities to climb and do gymnastics and a football area. In 2004, the park and the pond have been redesigned for the BUGA 2007.

Köstritz Park

location: in the south of Bad Köstritz

During the 18th century, this large-scale park in English style developed from a typical manor garden with vegetable gardening and fruit-growing. The small Ionic-Classical temple with its white sculpture of the Greek goddess Demeter does probably belong to the park’s nicest buildings. In addition, various animals can be seen in a pen.

Fairy Tale Forest

For already 70 years the fairy tale forest in the Kamnitzgrund is a well-known centre of attraction. The affectionately designed, water-powered fairy tale plays will belong to the unforgettable memories of your visit.
